The deadline for placement applications is 10 March 2008.
The Company Placement Scheme encourages applications from individuals under-represented in the Film and TV industries including: individuals excluded through economic circumstance, women; people of Black or ethnic minority backgrounds and people with disabilities. Entrants must be over 18 years of age and new to the industry displaying a commitment to working in the film, TV or moving image sector and live in one of London’s 33 boroughs.

The selected trainees will receive:

  • Payment of the minimum wage (£5.52 per hour) for 6 months (26 weeks), based on a 40 hour week
  • 12 days holiday per placement
  • A structured work plan personal to each placement, based on the Skillset National Occupational Standards
  • A named experienced supervisor/mentor within the company
  • Regular monitoring and evaluation of the placement
  • After-care careers guidance and advice.

Atticus Finch  Motion Graphics/3D Software Trainee
Atticus Finch is a busy production company based in Spitalfields who work with a broad range of clients on music promos and broadcast design to brand virals and corporate communications. The trainee will assist on these projects receiving structured supervision and mentoring, and targeted input to help them progress towards their chosen area.

Bird’s Eye View  Project Assistant
Birds Eye View is a creative platform for women film-makers which launched the UK’s first major women’s film festival in 2005 across London’s leading film venues. The Birds Eye View Film Festival is looking to recruit a trainee project assistant who will work across all festival projects including a national tour.

New Moon Television is a London-based independent production company which works across advertising, broadcast and corporate films, past clients have included Eurostar, BAA and the London Development Agency. The trainee will work closely with the Post-Production co-ordinator in the Post-Production department, and will have the opportunity to learn all the processes involved including basic editing techniques and how to maintain a media library.

Phoenix Cinema  Marketing, Education and Fundraising Assistant
The Phoenix Cinema is a single screen 1910 cinemas which screens a wide range of films and brings otherwise untold stories to the community. It has been run by a charitable trust since 1985. The candidate will have a unique opportunity to learn a wide range of skills across independent cinema exhibition with one of the leading and long-standing organisations in this field.

Soda Pictures is a film distribution company specializing in independent film. Based in E1, the candidate will work with the publicity department dealing with basic press tasks such as organizing press kits, press screenings and distributing screeners. There will an opportunity to develop skills in feature and interview pitching.
